VI. Structure of the Workbook
The Workbook follows the structure of the Student's Book. Every unit and every part within
the unit in the Student's Book has a parallel unit and a parallel part in the Workbook. There is
a reference to the exact pages in the Workbook for each section in the Student’s Book.
The aim of the Workbook is to practice and reinforce the objectives and the benchmarks as
outlined in the Student's Book. The texts and activities have been designed to cater to the
needs of the heterogeneous class. Activities come in three levels of difficulty:
– easiest
– at level
– more advanced
The following types of exercises appear in every part of every unit:
• Reading comprehension exercises on the texts presented in the Student's Book.
• Vocabulary exercises that practice the vocabulary in the unit, mainly the new words
introduced in each part, but “Words I Know” exercises that practice review word are
included as well.
• Independent reading passages, related to the format or the content of the passages in
the Student's Book.
• Writing exercises related to the format or the content of the passages in the Student's
Book.
• Language focus exercises following introduction of the language structures in the
Student's Book.
• Dictionary exercises that develop students’ dictionary skills.
• A Self-Check Test at the end of the unit as a form of review and reflection.
• On many of the pages there is a blue right-hand side-bar with a challenging task. This is
additional language practice.
The Answer Key for the Workbook appears at the end of the Teacher’s Guide.
