Pullout Box – American or British
Read the feature with the students and explain that often American English and British
English have the same word but it’s spelled differently. For example, the word ‘favorite’ in
American English doesn’t have ‘a’ or ‘u’ in it but in British English is does, ‘favourite’. Other
words also have the difference between the addition of ‘a’, ‘u’ or not: colour/color,
honour/honor, flavour/flavor, odour/odor.

Pre-Reading
1. Let’s Read!
HOTS: PREDICT
Before the students read, ask them where they think Albert might be. Let them predict
based on the pictures in the comic strip.
Have the students read the comic strip by looking at each frame separately. They should try
to figure out where Albert is now.
