A) Ask all the students to get in line with the student whose birthday is FIRST (school year or
calendar year) standing first in line.
B) Ask a student to call out his or her month, and any student who has a birthday in that
month stands behind the month holder.

HOTS: PREDICT
Have the students look at the picture and try to predict what they think the poem will be
about. Ask them how they think the picture is connected to the poem.
Phonics – TH – Before you read the poem, refer to the
students to this feature. Remind them of the sound the
digraph (consonant combination) /th/ makes. Ask them
how many words they can say that have the /th/ sound
in them somewhere.
AL: Students know how word
order, sound and writing systems
in English are organized and how
these elements compare with
their home language.
Ask them if the sound /th/ exists in their own language?
Have them find the words with /th/ on the page and read them out.

10. Let’s Read!
Read the poem ‘Sorry, No More Days’ with the class. Have them
read the poem quietly and then you read it aloud so they’ll hear
the tune in the poem.
Read and have the students repeat after you.
