10. Let’s Think and Talk!
HOTS: MAKE CONNECTIONS
Elicit from the students that the name Albert has appeared three times in this unit – Albert
Einstein, Albert Sparkov and now the name Albert, meaning ‘smart’. Ask them why they
think this name is so important to the writer and what it might hint at.
Try to elicit the connection between Albert’s name and the fact that he has a poster of
Albert Einstein (about whom Albert says “I like his first name” on page 4).
OPTION: Pair Work – Have the students
talk in pairs about the question. Then have
a few pairs present their ideas. Continue
discussing this as long as there are different
opinions.
SI: Students interact for a limited range of
purposes, such as following basic instructions and
directions, asking for and giving information,
making and fulfilling simple requests.
11. Let’s Do It!
WKBK: Have the students turn to the workbook, page 13,
exercise 11 to explain this group work.
P: Design a means for collecting
information, such as a simple
questionnaire and list the
results.
Divide the class into groups of five students. Each group has
to make a chart of all the boys’ names in the group and all
the girls’ names in the group. Then write what the names
mean and how many of each name is in the group. Then they should share the information
with the whole class making a whole class chart on the board and each group shares their
findings.
