Netiquette
Remind the students of appropriate behavior on the net, especially when working on a
Wikispace Classroom, a blog or forum with the other students. The rules are:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Be polite.
No bad language.
No insults.
Always give feedback in the same way you would want others to give to you.
Don’t use all capital letters, as it’s considered shouting.
If you use an emoticon, make sure you explain the reference behind it.
If you use an acronym, make sure everyone knows what it stands for.
If you know someone is having a hard time using the computer, help him.
X. BEGINNING THE YEAR
i. Getting to know Let’s Find Out
You want to help the students familiarize themselves with the book. You are going to have
them search for a few things in the book, together with you and then you can discuss the
pictures they come across or answer any questions they may have.
Say and ask:

We are going to get to know our book, Let’s Find Out a little more before we start
studying with it.
To do this, I’m going to give you some instructions and you have to do what I ask.
Let’s start. Look at the cover of the book. Who do you see?
Does the picture give you any clues about who they are, or what they are like?
Now let’s open the first few pages of the book.
How many units does the book have? (5)
What is the title of each unit?
How many parts are in each unit? What is the name of each part?
Read the different task labels together with the class. Teach vocabulary used in each
label.
