. Play a game: Guess my word! Play a game with the whole class. Each turn, a student
comes to the front of the room, you tell them a word quietly and they have to act it out
without saying anything. The student who guesses the right word comes up next. The
students are allowed eight guesses for each word.
5. Let’s Remember!
HOTS: COMPARE AND CONTRAST
Have the students read the questions and discuss the
answers with a partner. They should compare Marie
Curie and Professor Garcia-Sparkov, saying how they
are the same and how they are different. They should
write, together in pairs, at least two examples for each.
SI: Students engage in short
conversations/discussions by
asking and answering simple
questions about familiar topics and
everyday situations, such as family,
school, and personal interests.
Possible answers:
• Same: They are both women; They both won a Nobel Prize; They are both scientists.
• Different: One is in the past, the other is in the future; One worked in medicine with
X-rays, the other works in physics; One appears as a hologram, the other doesn’t.
6. Let’s Surf!
Read the introduction about Pepper’s Ghost and the world’s first hologram. Ensure the
students understand what is being discussed. Then read the entire section and show them
the clip.
If you don’t have Internet access, read the information and discuss the concept without
going into more detail.
WKBK: Have the students turn to workbook pages 208-209 and do exercises 1-3.
Pages 222-223
Vocabulary
Before going on to exercise 7, focus on the Vocabulary
Ruler on page 223.
If you have access to the digital format, go to the
Vocabulizer online (www.eadventure.co.il/LFO/vocab)
and have the students work there. If not, teach the
vocabulary from the book.
AI: Students use information tools
such as a glossary, a simplified
learner’s dictionary, online
dictionary, table of contents, guided
search engines, simplified E-books,
YouTube videos.
Make sure the students are familiar with the words in
the Words I Know (elephants, hippos, restaurant).
Read them and have the students explain/show you what the words mean. Do at least one
review activity. For ideas, go to page v, Teaching Vocabulary.
