These are usually extra activities so if your school does not have access, the Teacher’s Guideoffers the same information in a simpler form to enable the teacher to share the sameinformation.xii. Option (aimed at heterogeneous classes)In the Teacher's Guide, after many of the activities, there are ideas for an extra activity to dowith your class, where possible. The aim is to offer another option for some of the activities.You can opt for the option instead of the actual task if it is more suitable for your class. Botheasier and more challenging options appear throughout.xiii. BrainteaserThese are challenges for the students. They offer a chance to predict, to make connectionsand to show their comprehension of what was being discussed in the section. The answersappear in the Teacher’s Guide to enable you easy access.xiv. Let’s Remember!The first exercise of Part 6 in each unit is called Let’s Remember! Here the students are givenan opportunity to review the information they’ve collected in the unit and to remember whatthey were working on before finishing off the story for the unit. It’s important to have thestudents do these tasks as they offer a chance to review not only the story but the language,vocabulary and the grammatical structures. It’s also a chance to show the students how muchthey know.xv. I Love Literature!The end of each unit has a section called I Love Literature! where the students are offered achance to become familiar with a piece of literature, to read and enjoy as well as to analyzevia comprehension work both at the LOTS and the HOTS level, via the Key Components, asrequired by the Revised National Curriculum from 2015. Each Key Component is clearlymarked in the Teacher’s Guide.xvi. Unit ReflectionEach unit ends with a short unit reflection which offers the students a chance to reflect onwhat they have learned and what they feel they know by the end of the unit. Likewise, theyshould take the I can do that! Self Test at the end of the unit in the Workbook.xvii. Independent ReadingAll Independent Reading passages, with their accompanying activities in the Workbook offerthe students an opportunity to work on enjoyable reading passages at an accessible level.These are passages that are meant to be done individually and without the teacher’sassistance. However, should the student need assistance, feel free to offer it to him or her.xvii
