2. Let’s Talk!
Pair Work: Have the students work in pairs to discuss what
kind of movies they like. Once they are finished, they should
turn to the pair next to them and compare notes. When the
whole class is finished, ask the students what they discovered
about their partner.
SI: Students engage in short
conversations/discussions by
asking and answering simple
questions about familiar topics
and everyday situations, such as
family, school, and personal
interests.
OPTION: You can take a toll of how many students like specific
types of movies. For example: scary movies, action movies,
funny movies, sad movies, cartoons, animated movies.
3. Let’s Listen and Answer!
The students are going to listen to a conversation. Have
them read the questions before they listen the first time.
Then give them time to listen again and check their answers.

Announcer: This is Radio 99 FM. It’s ten o'clock, and now it’s time for Talking about Movies
with Sam Smith.
Sam: Hi, I am Sam Smith, and this is Talking about Movies! Today I am here at the lake,
talking to director Orson Walls. Mr. Walls is here because he is making a new movie. Hello,
Mr. Walls!
Orson: Hello, Sam. And hello to everybody who is listening now!
Sam: Mr. Walls, everybody loves your movie, “The Legend of the Lake Monster.” Can you
tell us about the new movie that you are making?
Orson: Of course I can. I can even show you! Do you see the boat that is on the lake, Sam?
Sam: Yes, I do.
Orson: That is my boat. The man in the boat has a movie camera. He is working on our new
movie!
