Challenge a strong class to do a pre-reading challenge task. Say: Open your Legendary Stories &
More book to the Look and Find task on page 14.

Give pupils some time to explore the story The Sandwich Party with a partner or small group by
scanning it in their Stories & More book from page 15 to page 27.

Pupils can answer the questions orally with their partner/group or record their responses in their
English Notebooks.
Review the task together with the class and ask pupils to show you on which pages in the story they
found the answers.
First Reading

Read the story The Sandwich Party all the way through (or play the audio file).

Pupils should follow along with the story in their Stories & More book.

After reading, ask questions related to the story.
•
Ask: Who comes to the sandwich party? (Elicit the names of the children: Soo, Anne, Jamal, Mike,
Tom, and Andy)

Say: Look at the last page of the story (Stories & More page 27). Ask:

What do the children bring to the sandwich party? (Elicit some food items the pupils remember
from the story, for example: bread, chips, juice, cheese, etc.)
What did the children make together? (Elicit: one very big, tall sandwich)
Say Open your Course Books to page 66. Were we correct about what happened in the story?

Review the pupils’ predictions.
Second Reading and Story Script: The Sandwich Party

Read the story again, page by page. While reading, stop at each page and ask questions to ensure
pupils comprehend and to elicit vocabulary that the pupils have learned.

Pupils should read the story along with you in their Stories & More book.
