Point to each clock and ask: What time is it? (Elicit: It is ___ o'clock.)

Read the sentences and match each to the correct clock by writing the
number in the box.

Say: Let’s write.

Ask: What time do you eat breakfast? (Elicit the time from the pupils. Different pupils may have
slightly different responses. Have pupils write the time on the line.)

Repeat to ask about lunch and dinner. Have pupils complete the answers in their Course Books.

Before reading, read the title together with the pupils: Invitation from Soo

Tell pupils that this text is an invitation. Explain what an invitation is used for,
and the features of an invitation (use L1 if needed). Have pupils share if they
have written or received an invitation (in L1 or in English) before, and what it
was for.

Ask: Who is the invitation for? (Elicit and/or point to the envelope: To my
friend)
▪
Say: Look at the pictures on the invitation. What do you think the invitation is for? (Elicit: a
party / any other logical response)
Say: Let's read the invitation.

Read the invitation together as a class. Have pupils point to follow along in their Course Books.
Ask different pupils to read each sentence.

Teach the new vocabulary word “come (to)” through the context of the text (use L1 if needed to
explain the meaning).
After reading, ask: What day of the week is the party? (Elicit: Friday) What time is the party? (Elicit:
ten o’clock.)

Have pupils scan the text and circle the day and time of the party and elicit the answers.
▪
Now say: Find and circle all the food and drink words in the text.
▪
Have pupils scan the text for the food words. Give pupils a few minutes to do this on their own or
with a partner.
▪
Reveal to check answers and practice the vocabulary. Elicit the words: sandwich, bread, chips,
cookies, water, juice.
