Have pupils point to each word in their Course Books and say the words.

Show pupils that days of the week always begin with a capital letter.
▪
Teach the new lexical chunk "capital letter" through the context of the instruction (use L1 if
needed to explain the meaning).

Ask: What day is it today? (Elicit: Today is (Sunday).)
•
Practice the words by showing the flashcards and asking: What color is (Wednesday)? (Elicit: orange)
▪
What day is (red)? (Elicit: Monday)
▪
Repeat to practice all the words.
Game
•
Say: Let's play a game.
•
Play the game to practice the days of the week vocabulary: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Disappearing Card (game #9)
▪
Have pupils say all the days of the week.
▪
Hide one card. Tell the class to repeat all the days again, including the one you have hidden.
▪
Hide another card and again have the pupils repeat all the days of the week, including the hidden
ones.
▪
If they do not remember the cards, reveal the card(s) and try again.
▪
Do this until all the flashcards are hidden. Tell the class to say all the days of the week from
memory.
▪
Reveal the cards again as the pupils say them one by one.
Song
•
Teach and sing “Days of the Week" (song #1.34) to practice the new vocabulary.
▪
Hold up your fingers to indicate the day of the week (Sunday = 1, Monday = 2) as you sing, and
have the pupils copy you.
Course Book
•
Say: Open your Course Books to page 58. Look at #1.
•
Say: Let’s read and sing.
▪
Play the song “Days of the Week” again and have pupils read the song lyrics
while they sing.
