Teach and sing “Big and Small Numbers Chant” (song #2.5) to review the numbers 1-20.

Review the vocabulary using the flashcards: birthday, chair, chicken, children, chips, fish, grandfather,
grandmother, kitchen, milkshake, mouth, sandwich, share, (to) shop, short, spinach, teacher, teeth,
thirsty, wash.

Ask: Who remembers? (Elicit the words.)
▪
Have pupils repeat the words.
Which words have the sound /th/ or /TH/? the sound /ch/? the sound /sh/? (Elicit the words, or
have pupils come to the board, and circle the words in different colors according to the digraph
sound.)

What two letters together make the sound /th/ or /TH/? /ch/? /sh/?
Ask: How many words do you see? (Count the flashcards 1-20 together with the class.)

Teach the new vocabulary in the Course Book using the flashcards.
