Demonstrate the dialogue with a volunteer if needed. Have pupils share their favorite food using the
lexical chunk.

Say: Talk to a friend.

In pairs, have the pupils say the dialogue to each other, based on their own preferences. Then,
pupils should switch roles and repeat the dialogue.

Say: Look at #3.

Say: Let's complete the sentences. Write your favorite food/color/number.

Have pupils complete the sentences ("My favorite…is…").
▪
Remind pupils that they can copy food and drink words from the new words on pages 26/27, 34,
38, 42, or 46. If needed, they can copy colors from page 13 and numbers from the new words at
the bottom of the page.
Go around the room and ask different pupils to share their responses: What is your favorite
food/color/number? (Elicit: My favorite…is…)

Say: Let's play a game.
•
Play the game to review and practice the words: cut, mix, add, wash, eat, drink, put.
•

Teach the lexical chunk "put" (something somewhere) using the word card (use L1 if needed to
explain the meaning). Practice by telling pupils: Put your book on your desk. Put your pencil on
your book. Put your hand on your head., etc.

Review the words using the flashcards before playing the game.
▪
Practice a gesture to review each word: for 'cut' mime cutting vegetables with a knife, for 'mix'
mime mixing ingredients in a bowl, for 'add' mime holding something with one hand and adding
to it with your other, for 'wash' mime washing your face or hands, for 'eat' and 'drink' mime
eating or drinking something, for 'put' mime putting something on the table.
Mime Game (game #8)

Say a word and have the pupils do a gesture for that word.
▪
Then, do the gesture for a word and have the pupils say the word.
▪
Alternate and repeat for each word.

Before reading, ask: Who do you see? (Elicit: I see Anne.)

Point and read the title together with the pupils: How to Make Anne's
Favorite Sandwich

Before reading the text, tell pupils that this text is a recipe. Explain the
features of a recipe (ingredients – shopping list and instructions – what to
do) (use L1 if needed). Have pupils share if they have seen or used recipes (in
