•
What do they both want to eat? (Elicit: They both want to eat cookies.)
After listening, say: Let's write what Mike and Soo want.
▪
Have pupils use the word box to write what Mike wants, what Soo wants, and what they both
want. Give pupils a few minutes to do this according to the dialogue they just heard. Play the
dialogue again if needed.
▪
Now, play the dialogue one more time and have pupils check their responses as they listen.
•
Say: Look at #2.
•
Say: Let’s add two foods together and see what we get.
•
▪
Point to the first sentence and read it together with the pupils, eliciting the food images: (Elicit:
Spinach) and (Elicit: cake) is spinach cake.
▪
Ask pupils: Do you like to eat spinach cake? (Have pupils respond by showing a thumbs up or
thumbs down and saying: Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.)
▪
Say: Point to the spinach cake.
Say: Let’s complete the sentences.
▪
Write in the missing words to complete each sentence, then ask pupils if they like to eat “banana
salad” and “meat cookies”.
•
Say: Open your Course Books to page 39. Look at #3.
•
Before reading, point to and read the title together with the pupils: Jamal is
Hungry
▪
•
Ask: Who do you see? (Elicit: I see Jamal and his dad.)
Say: Let's read and find out what Jamal eats.
▪
Read the text together as a class. Have pupils point to follow along in their
Course Books. Ask different pupils to read the dialogue.
•
After reading, ask: What does Jamal eat? (Elicit: a cheese and spinach sandwich and a chocolate
cookie sandwich)
•
Say: Look at #4.
•
Say: Let's answer.
▪
For each question, have pupils show where in the text they found the information.
1 Jamal is hungry. (Elicit: yes)
2 Dad wants to eat chocolate cookies. (Elicit: no)
3 Jamal eats a cheese and spinach sandwich. (Elicit: yes)
4 Jamal doesn’t eat chocolate cookies. (Elicit: no)
•
