Teach the new lexical chunks using previously taught vocabulary: What do you want? I want…

Show flashcards one at a time and ask: What do you want? I want (chips/pizza/an
apple/chicken).
▪
Show ‘chips’ flashcard and ask: What do you want?
▪
Have the pupils respond: I want (chips).
▪
Repeat for each word.
Show the flashcards: chocolate, coffee, cookie, jam, juice, salad, sandwich, tea, water, milk, banana,
cake.
▪
Ask different pupils: What do you want to eat/drink? (Elicit: I want…)

Say: Open your Course Books to page 35. Look at #4.

Read the dialogue together with the pupils:
What do you want to drink?
I want milk.

Demonstrate the dialogue with a volunteer if needed. For weaker pupils, remind
pupils that they can look at the words on pages 26/27 or 34 to help them answer
the questions.

Say: Talk to a friend.

In pairs, have the pupils say the dialogue to each other, based on their own preferences. Then,
pupils should switch roles and repeat the dialogue.

Say: Look at #5.

Before listening, point to the title and read together with the pupils: Chunky the Monkey

Say: Look at the picture. What do you see? (Elicit: I see monkeys in the kitchen.)
Say: Let's listen and find out what Chunky and her children want to eat.

Tell pupils to listen and follow along with their finger.
▪
Teach the new vocabulary words "her," “for,” and "make" through the context of the text (use L1
if needed to explain the meaning).
After listening, ask: What do the children want to eat? (Elicit: They want to eat pizza.)

Do the children want cheese on their pizza? (Elicit: yes)
▪
Do the children want spinach on the pizza? (Elicit: no)
