Go around the room and ask different pupils:

How many brothers/sisters do you have? (Elicit: I have…)

Do you have a pet? (Elicit: Yes, I have a cat/dog/etc. or No)

Sing “Good Morning, School” (song #1.37).
Vocabulary

Review the vocabulary using the flashcards: apple, banana, cake, pizza, egg, milk, lemon.

Ask: Who remembers? (Elicit the words.)
▪
Have pupils repeat the words.
Ask (use L1 if needed): What do these words have in common? (Elicit a logical response in L1 if
needed, then repeat in English: They are all foods.)

Tell pupils that today they will begin a new unit on the topic: Food & Drinks

Teach the new vocabulary in the Course Book using the flashcards.

Present each card one at a time and say the words: sandwich, salad, chocolate, cookie, jam,
water, juice, tea, coffee.
Say: Open your Course Books to page 26. Look at the new words.
