Introductions and Greetings
Greetings
•
Go around the room and ask different pupils:

Are you a boy or a girl? (Elicit: I am a boy/girl.)
▪
How old are you? (Elicit: I am _____ years old.)
▪
Where do you live? (Elicit: I live in (City name).)
Song
•
Teach and sing “Good Morning, Dear Pupils” (song #1.6).
Lexical Chunks
Review
•
Review the lexical chunks: Do you like…? Yes, I like… / No, I don’t like…
•
Show the flashcards: dog, snake, cake, pizza, egg, monkey, television, cat.
•
Ask: Do you like dogs? (Have pupils put their thumbs up or down in response)
•

Elicit from the pupils with their thumbs up: Yes, I like dogs.
▪
Elicit from the pupils with their thumbs down: No, I don’t like dogs.
▪
Repeat with several words to practice the chunks and vocabulary.
Say: Talk to a friend.
▪
In pairs, have the pupils take turns asking each other “Do you like…?” and answering based on
their own preferences saying “Yes, I like… / No, I don’t like…”

Show the flashcards: book, bag, pencil, pen, glue, scissors, paper, crayons.
