Say: Open your Course Books to page 13. Look at #3.

Say: Look at the rainbow.
•
Review the colors as sight words: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink,
brown, black, gray, white.

Point to the words one at a time. Have pupils point in their Course Books and
read the words together. Say: Let's point to and say the words.
▪
Tell pupils that these are words in English that they will see often and that
pupils should "take a picture of" them in their mind so they can recognize them.
Say: Say the colors of the rainbow words.
Game
•
Say: Let’s play a game.
•
Play the game to practice the colors as sight words: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink,
brown, black, white, gray.

Point to… (game #3)

Hide the images on the flashcards – show only the English word.
▪
Present a color word card. Say: Point to something… (do not say the color aloud)
▪
Have pupils point to something in the classroom of that color, without saying the word aloud.
Praise the pupils who point to the correct color and correct those who are not.
▪
Elicit the color from the pupils and reveal the flashcard image.
▪
Repeat with each color.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 13. Look at #4.
•
Remind pupils of other sight words they have learned.
•
Point to and read them together. Say: Let's read the words: I, a, see, the, has, have, is, can, he, she,
it.
•
Say: Listen and color the words.
1 Color “I” pink.
5 Color “has” white.
9 Color “he” yellow.
2 Color “a” gray.
3 Color “see” red.
6 Color “have” blue. 7 Color “is” orange.
10 Color “she” purple. 11 Color “it” green.

Reveal to check answers.
•
Ask: What color is “the”? (Elicit: brown)
4 Color “the” brown.
8 Color “can” black.

Ask: What word is orange? (Elicit: is)
▪
Repeat to practice the words. Alternate between eliciting the colors and the words.
