Ask: What photographs do you have on your telephone? (Elicit some personal responses. Encourage
pupils to respond in English using vocabulary they know, e.g. I have photographs of my
pet/dog/family/food/trip/ house/friends, etc.

Say: Look at #2.

Say: All the words have the PH sound /f/. Read the words and mark ✓ where you hear the sound –
in the beginning, middle, or end of the word.

Give pupils a few minutes to do this on their own or with a partner.
Ask: Which word begins with the sound /f/? (Elicit: photograph)

Which words have the sound /f/ in the middle? (Elicit: telephone and elephant)
▪
Which word ends with the sound /f/? (Elicit: photograph)

Point out to pupils that “photograph” has the /f/ sound in the beginning AND at the end.

Weaker pupils should be encouraged to underline the letters "ph" in the words with a colored crayon.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 259. Look at #3.

Show pupils the columns with the two way to make the sound /f/.

Say: All the words have the sound /f/. Let's look at the words and mark if the
sound /f/ is made with the letter F or the letters PH. Circle the letters that
make the sound /f/ in each word, then mark ✓ in the correct column.

Say: Read the sentences and match them to the correct picture.
