Say: Open your Course Books to page 242. Look at #1.

Point to the letter R-blends and say: Look at the pictures. What words do you
know with B+R /br/ in the beginning? (Elicit: breakfast, bread, brother)

Repeat for each R-blend: C+R /kr/, D+R /dr/, F+R /fr/, G+R /gr/, T+R /tr/
Say: Let's write the first two letters in each word.

Have pupils write the letters (consonant+R) to complete the words, then ask:
What words did you write? (Read and elicit: travel, drive, fruit, tree, crayons,
gray, breakfast, bread, brother, trip, dress)

Say: Look at #2.
•
Say: Write the words from #1 in the correct box.

Give pupils a few minutes to do this on their own or with a partner.

Reveal to check answers and ask different volunteers to read the words they wrote in each box.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 243. Look at #3.

Before completing the task, point to the title and read together with the pupils:
The World Market

Teach the new word “market" through the context of the text title (use L1 if
needed to explain the meaning).
▪
Point to the picture of the market and ask: What do you see? (Elicit
vocabulary that pupils have previously learned)
▪
Ask: What do you think you can find at the World Market? (Elicit any logical
