▪
If you think you are just starting to understand or be able to do something, mark under Max at
the bottom of the mountain.
•
Read the sentences together, one at a time. Have pupils mark their answer after each sentence.
Show them where. Allow time for pupils to respond.
•
For questions 10 and 11, tell pupils to write their answer in L1 on the lines indicated.
•
Thank the class for doing the self-assessment seriously and tell them how interested you are in
reading what they have written.
•
Tell pupils you will meet with each of them after reading their self-assessment.
•
Tell pupils to cut out the assessment page. Remind the pupils again to write their names if they
haven’t already.
•
Collect the assessment and have the teacher/pupil conference with each pupil.
•
Say: Well done! You have completed Unit 4!
Teacher-Pupil Conference
•
Prepare for the Teacher-Pupil Conferences:
▪
After the lesson, mark the assessments on the Summary Sheet in Appendix Va.
▪
Read over pupils’ self-assessments. Now write your assessment of their performance under the
“Teacher’s Assessment” column. Write comments in the pupils’ L1. Be encouraging and
constructive.
▪
These assessment tools, along with the Performance Task Rubric in Appendix Vb, will serve as a
basis for discussion during the pupil-teacher conference, which you will be having with each pupil
within the next two weeks. You may call pupils up individually while others are working in their
Course Books.
•
During the conference, discuss with the pupil the things s/he does well and how s/he can improve.
•
Compliment the pupil for doing the difficult task of self-assessment. Explain how assessment helps
them become better learners.
•
Give the pupil the completed assessment to take home.
