Review the words using the flashcards before playing the game.
Chain Game: The Weather Today (game #10)

State the weather using any weather vocabulary: On (Sunday) it is (rainy).
▪
Demonstrate the game by ask a pupil: What's the weather on (Monday)? (Have the pupil repeat
the Sunday weather you stated, then add the weather of the following day of the week: On
Sunday it is (rainy) and on Monday is it (windy).)

The next pupil must repeat the weather of the previous two days and add the next day.
▪
Continue until the pupils add the weather for every day of the week.
▪
If a pupil gets stuck, point to the flashcard to remind the pupil of the word, or ask the class to
help.
▪
Have pupils play in groups of seven.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 222.

Read the title of the story together with the pupils: The Selfish
Giant

Remind pupils that they have seen the giant in the
flashcard 'giant'.
▪
Explain the word "selfish" (use L1 if needed). Say: The
giant is selfish. He doesn't like to share. He is not nice.

Say: Look at the pictures from the story. What do you see?
(Elicit some vocabulary from the images on the page, for example: giant, house, garden, children,
flowers, trees, etc.)

Before reading the story, say: Let’s listen and number the pictures.
1 The giant is in his house.
2 The mothers and fathers say to the children, "You can't play in the garden!"
3 The children smell the flowers and eat the fruit from the trees.
4 The giant is mad!
5 The giant and the children play in the garden.
