Before reading the text, read the title together with the pupils: Lost Cat

Ask pupils if anyone knows what type of text they see. Tell pupils that this
poster is for a lost pet (use L1 if needed). Elicit from the pupils what type of
information may be on a lost pet poster, for example, the animal's name, a picture of the lost pet,
a description, and how to contact the owners.
Say: Let's read and find out about the lost cat.

Ask pupils to describe the cat. Elicit, for example: The cat is orange. The cat
has a white face. The cat has green eyes, etc.
Ask for volunteers to read each line of the poster.
After reading, ask: What is the name of the lost cat? (Elicit: Cici)

What does the lost cat look like? (Elicit: She is an orange cat with a white face and green eyes.)
▪
What do you need to do if you see the cat? (Elicit: Call the city police.)
Now say: Read again and circle all the words in the text that have the letter "c".

Give pupils a few minutes to do this on their own or with a partner.

Ask volunteers to say the words they circled to check answers.

Say: Look at #4.

Say: Look at the words you circled in the text. Write 5 words where the letter C makes the /s/
sound on the lines.

Flip all the cards so the picture is not visible.
▪
Quickly flash a card to the pupils, and then turn it back around.
▪
Ask: What is it? Have the pupils guess what they saw: (Elicit: It's ___ .)
▪
If the pupils guess correctly, turn the card around to show the picture. If the pupils do not guess
correctly, flash the card and have pupils guess again.
