•
Before reading, ask if the pupils recognize what type of text this is.

•
▪
Tell pupils that this text is a social media page (use L1 if needed). Elicit from
the pupils what type of information may be on the page, for example, a post
and comments by other users.
▪
Ask: What do you think the post is about? (Elicit any logical response. Have
pupils look at the pictures for clues and ideas. Elicit that the post is for an
event.)
▪
Have pupils scan the text to find and circle the date and time of the event. Remind pupils that
days of the week and months begin with capital letters.
Say: Let's read the post and find out what is happening at the beach.
▪
Read the text together as a class. Have pupils point to follow along in their Course Books.
▪
Teach the new word "beautiful" through the context of the text (use L1 if needed to explain the
meaning).
After reading, ask: What is happening at the beach? (Elicit: The people clean the beach.)
▪
When will the people clean the beach? (Elicit: Friday, April 15 at nine o’clock.)
▪
What do people clean up at the beach? (Elicit: They clean leaves and garbage.)
Then ask pupils: Why do you think it is important to make the beach clean and beautiful?
▪
Do you see garbage on the beach, park, or in the streets in your city/town?
▪
How do you help keep your city/town clean?
▪
Allow different pupils a chance to give a personal response to the questions/discuss as a class.
