Point out that the letter G makes the soft sound /j/ in these words.
Show that the letter G makes the soft sound /j/ if it is followed by the vowels E or I. Circle or
underline each soft G /j/ in the words, and point out the E or I that follows. Say the words again
and emphasize the sound.
Ask: Do you remember what other letter makes more than one sound? (Elicit: Y - /y/, /E/, and /I/)
