Have the pupils respond together: I am fine, thank you. How are you?

Have pupils turn to the person sitting next to them and ask: How are you?
Ask: What day is it today? (Elicit: Today is (Sunday).)

What month is it? (Elicit: It is (March).)
▪
What day in (March) is it? (Elicit the day.)
▪
Say the full date and write it on the board: Today is (Sunday), (March 9).
Song

Sing “Big and Small Numbers Chant” (song #2.5).

II.
After counting to 20 with the chant, continue counting by multiples of 10 to review the numbers.
Write the numbers on the board and elicit: 20, 30, 40, etc.

Review the vocabulary using the flashcards: game, garden, glue, green, August, hungry, dog, egg.

Ask: Who remembers? (Elicit the words.)
▪
Have pupils repeat the words.
Ask: What sound do you hear in all the words? (Elicit: /g/)

Ask: What letter makes the sound /g/? (Elicit: the letter G)
▪
Say together with the pupils: The letter is G and the sound is /g/.
For each word, ask: Do you hear the sound /g/ in the beginning, middle, or end of the word?
