Let's Line Up! (game #16)
▪
Have pupils line up in the order of their birthdays, with January birthdays at one end of the
classroom, and December at the other end. Pupils must tell each other their birthday in order to
decide if they should line up in front of or behind another pupil. Before allowing pupils to begin,
have pupils practice saying their birthday:
-
Ask different pupils: What month is your birthday? (Elicit the month)
-
Ask: What day is your birthday? (Elicit the day. NOTE: pupils can use the cardinal form of the
number, as opposed to the ordinal, e.g. November nine, as opposed to ninth)
▪
Give pupils a few minutes to line up in the correct order.
▪
When they are finished, check the order by asking each pupil: When is your birthday? (Elicit
month and day)
▪
If pupils are not in the correct order, correct them by placing them in the line according to their
answer.
