•
Say: Look at #2.
•
Go around the room and ask a few volunteers: What is your favorite season – winter, spring,
summer, or fall? Why? (Elicit the season, pupils can give a reason in L1 if needed: My favorite season
is…because…)
•
▪
What can you wear in the ___? (Elicit some clothing that is appropriate for the chosen season).
▪
What do you like to do in the ___? (Elicit an activity – pupils can answer in L1 if needed, teacher
should restate in English and have pupils repeat after them, for example: go to the beach, play in
the park, make a snowman, etc.) Write some phrases elicited from the pupils on the board.
Say: Complete the sentences. Then, draw a picture of what you like to do in your favorite season.
▪
Give pupils a few minutes to complete the sentences. Remind pupils that they can copy the
seasons from the new words box at the bottom of the page, and clothing words from the glossary
in the back of the Stories & More book (page 138). For #3, pupils can either copy one of the
sentences on the board or write their own with the help of the glossary.
•
Say: Open your Course Books to page 191. Look at #3.
•
Point to and elicit the seasons: winter, spring, summer, fall.
•
Ask: Do you like the weather in the (winter)? (Have pupils show a thumbs up or
down and say: Yes, I do. OR No, I don't.
▪
Say: Let's write.
▪
Repeat the question to ask about each season, then have pupils write their
response for each.
•
Say: Look at #4.
•
Say: Let's ask and answer.
•
Show the table on the board. Remind pupils that they have done a survey in Unit 1. Practice the
dialogue with a volunteer. Ask:
•
•
▪
What is your name? (Elicit: My name is…) Write the pupil's name in the first column in the table.
▪
Do you like the (winter)? (Elicit: Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.) Mark ✓ or X in the relevant column
based on the pupil’s response.
Say: Ask and answer the questions to complete the table.
▪
Have pupils perform the dialogue with at least three friends in the class. Challenge strong pupils
(or a strong class) to survey more pupils. Give pupils a few minutes to do this.
▪
While pupils are working, walk around and be sure pupils are using the correct forms of the
questions and answers.
After pupils are finished, ask pupils to present their findings. Have a few volunteers say, for example:
Dan likes the summer. He does not like the winter.
