Say: Good morning/afternoon.

Teach the new lexical chunk “good afternoon" through the context of the greeting (use L1 if
needed to explain the meaning). If your lesson begins in the afternoon, have the pupils respond
to you: Good afternoon.
▪
Have pupils turn to the person sitting next to them and say: Good morning/afternoon.
Ask: What day is it today? (Elicit: Today is (Sunday).)
▪
What's the weather today? (Elicit: It is cold and rainy today.)
▪
What day was yesterday? (Elicit: Yesterday was (Saturday).)
▪
What was the weather yesterday? (Elicit, e.g.: It was cool and windy yesterday.)

Sing “Rain on Sunday Chant” (song #2.29) to review the days of the week and weather vocabulary.
Vocabulary

Review the vocabulary using the flashcards: hot, cold, cool, warm, cloud, rain, sky, snow, sun, wind.

Ask: Who remembers? (Elicit the words.)
▪
Have pupils repeat the words.
Ask different pupils: What weather do you like? What weather do you not like?

Teach the new vocabulary in the Course Book using the flashcards.

Present each card one at a time and say the words: winter, spring, summer, fall, leaves.
