The teacher can choose to do the activity as a group competition. In small groups, pupils can write as
many words as they know from the picture (pupils should choose a group leader or "secretary"). The
group with the most correct words after a set time wins the competition.
Course Book

Say: Open your Course Books to page 184. Look at #4.
•
Read the table with the pupils. Say: Let's complete the sentences.

Do the first one with the pupils. Ask: What’s the weather on Sunday? (Elicit:
It is cold and rainy.)

Give pupils a few minutes to complete the task on their own or with a
partner.
Reveal to check answers.

Ask: What’s the weather on (Monday)? (Elicit: It is cool and cloudy.)
▪
Repeat for the other days.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 185. Look at #5.
•
Before reading, point to the map and ask about the weather around the world.
Ask: What’s the weather? (Elicit: It is snowy/rainy/windy/sunny.)

Say: Let’s read and find out what the weather around the world is. Write the
correct number next to the picture.

Read together with the pupils or ask volunteers to read each child’s blurb.

Reveal to check answers.

Point to Tom (#1) and ask: What is his name? (Elicit: His name is Tom.)
▪
Where does Tom live? (Elicit: He lives in New York City.)
▪
What’s the weather in New York City? (Elicit: It is cold and snowy.)
▪
For each question, have pupils show where in the text they found the information.

Repeat for the other children.
After reading, use the weather map to ask pupils: What kind of weather do you like? What kind of
weather do you not like?

Allow different pupils a chance to give a personal response to the questions/discuss as a class.

Challenge a strong class to do a challenge task. Say: Look at #7.
•
Ask: According to the weather in the map, where do you want to go? Complete the sentence.
