The Story: Mr. Red and Mr. Green
Final Reading

Read the story Mr. Red and Mr. Green page by page.

Say: Open your Legendary Stories & More book to the story on page 67.

Pupils should read the story along with you in their Stories & More book.

Ask volunteers to read parts of the story and encourage the pupils to follow
along.
After finishing the story, ask: Who is more important – Mr. Red or Mr. Green?
Why? (Elicit, for example: They are both important! They say when it is safe and
not safe to cross the street.)

Why can’t Tom cross the street without Mr. Green? (Elicit (in L1 if needed):
He waits for a long time but doesn’t know when to cross the street.)

Why can’t Tom cross the street without Mr. Red? (Elicit (in L1 if needed): The cars don’t stop so
it isn’t safe.)
Ask several pupils: What are the rules for crossing the street safely? (Elicit the rules in English, for
example: 1 – Stop and look at the traffic light. 2 – Wait for the traffic light to be green. 3 – Look for
cars in the street. Look to the left and to the right. 4 – Cross the street.
