Ask a volunteer to read the title of the story: Mr. Red and Mr. Green

Point and ask: Who do you see? (Elicit: I see Tom and his mom and dad. I see Mr.
Red and Mr. Green.)

What are Tom and his mom and dad doing? (Elicit: They are crossing the
street.)
▪
How does Tom feel? (Elicit: Tom feels happy.)

Say: Let’s read the story and find out what happens to Mr. Red and Mr. Green.

Challenge a strong class to do a pre-reading challenge task. Say: Open your Legendary Stories &
More book to the Look and Find task on page 66.

Give pupils some time to explore the story Mr. Red and Mr. Green with a partner or small group by
scanning it in their Stories & More book from page 67 to page 81.

Pupils can answer the questions orally with their partner/group or record their responses in their
English Notebooks.
Review the task together with the class and ask pupils to show you on which pages in the story they
found the answers.

Read the story Mr. Red and Mr. Green all the way through (or play the audio file).

Pupils should follow along with the story in their Stories & More book.

After reading, ask questions related to the story.

Ask: Who do you think is more important – Mr. Red or Mr. Green? Why? (Elicit, for example: They
are both important! They say when it is safe and not safe to cross the street.)

Say: Look at the last page of the story (Stories & More page 81). Ask:
