Review the vocabulary using the flashcards and/or gestures: city, town, stop, wait, feet, safe, sign,
important, traffic light, cross the street.

Ask: Who remembers? (Elicit the words.)

Have pupils repeat the words.
Ask: What do you think is the connection between the words? (Elicit any logical answer concerning
“street safety” and remind pupils of Mr. Red and Mr. Green from the previous lesson.)

Say: Open your Course Books to page 170.

Read the title of the story together with the pupils: Mr. Red
and Mr. Green

Say: Look at the pictures from the story. What do you see? (Elicit some vocabulary from the images
on the page, for example: traffic light, street, people, wait, stop, cross the street, safe, etc.)

Remind pupils that they have met Mr. Red and Mr. Green
in the text from the previous lesson. Ask pupils what they
remember about the men, e.g., they live in the traffic light,
they sing songs, Mr. Red says “stop” and Mr. Green says
“go”.
Point to the pictures and ask: How does he/she feel? (Elicit: Mr. Green is mad, Tom is sad, Tom is
happy.)
Before reading the story, say: Let’s listen and number the pictures.
1 Mr. Red and Mr. Green live in the traffic light.
2 Mr. Green is very mad.
3 It is not safe to cross the street.
4 Tom is sad. He is late for school!
5 Tom and his mom can cross the street.
