Introductions and Greetings
Greetings

Ask: Good morning. What day is it today? (Elicit: Today is (Sunday).)
•
Go around the room and ask different pupils:

How do you feel today? (Elicit: I feel happy/sad/mad/afraid/surprised.)
▪
How do you get to school? (Elicit: I walk to school. / I go by bus/car/train, etc.)

Sing “Our Neighborhood" (song #3.02).
Vocabulary
Game
•
Say: Let's play a game.
•
Play the game to review the vocabulary: beach, bus, car, hospital, library, neighbor, park, people,
police, restaurant, school, store, street, train, vet, zoo.

Review the words using the flashcards before playing the game.
Chain Game: In My Town (game #10)
▪
Say: I walk in my town and I see (a park).
▪
Demonstrate the game by ask a pupil: What do you see when you walk in your town? (Have the
pupil say what you see, then add another item to the list: I walk in my town and I see (a park) and
(a zoo).
▪
The next pupil must repeat the previous two items and add a third.
▪
Continue until all pupils have had a chance to add to the sentence.
▪
If a pupil gets stuck, point to the flashcard to remind the pupil of the word, or ask the class to
help.
▪
Have pupils play in groups. The larger the group, the more difficult the game is.
