Teach the new vocabulary in the Course Book using the flashcards.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 162. Look at the new words.

Say: Let's read and say the word.

Ask: What other words do you know that have the long-OO sound? (Elicit: zoo, school, boots)

Show the flashcards and say: cool, zoo, school, boots.

Show the flashcards and say: book, cookie, foot.

Point out the vowel team “oo” in each word. Double “oo” makes the long-OO.
Point out the vowel team “oo” in each word. Double “oo” makes the short-oo.
Tell pupils that double “oo” can make the long-OO or sometimes the short-oo.
