Say: Good morning. How are you?

Have the pupils respond together: I am fine, thank you. How are you?

Say: I am fine, thank you.
▪
Have pupils turn to the person sitting next to them and ask: How are you?
Ask: What day is it today? (Elicit: Today is (Sunday).)

What time is it? (Elicit: It is ___ (o'clock).)
Ask different pupils: What is your favorite color/food/number? (Elicit: My favorite…is…)
Song

Sing “Big and Small Numbers Chant” (song #2.5) to review the numbers.

II.
After counting to 20 with the chant, continue counting by multiples of 10 to review the numbers.
Write the numbers on the board and elicit: 20, 30, 40, etc.

Game

Say: Let's play a game.
•
Play the game to review the vocabulary: beach, boat, clean, cloud, coat, coffee, cow, ears, feet,
flower, gray, hair, outside, read, train, tree.

Review the vocabulary using the flashcards before playing the game.
I Spy (game #2)

Make binoculars with your hands. Say: I spy with my little eye something that has the sound /E/.
▪
Have pupils identify the correct word. If pupils struggle, give another hint – for example, the
initial sound of the word. Play a few rounds.
▪
For each word the pupils guess, ask: Which letters make the sound (/E/)? (Elicit the vowel teams:
"ea", "ee", "ai", "ay", "oa", "ou", "ow")
▪
Choose a pupil to be the spy and say: I spy with my little eye…
