/ow/.

Have pupils point to the vowel team and say the sound: /ow/.
Say: Let's write the vowels "ou".

Have pupils write the vowel team to complete the words, then ask: What
words did you write? (Read and elicit: cloud, outside, mouth)
▪
Ask: Which vowels are in all these words? (Elicit: “o” and “u”)
▪
What sound does "ou" make? (Elicit: /ow/)

Say: Look at #2.

Point to the words in the clouds and read the words together with the pupils. Ask: What words do
you see in the clouds? (Elicit: boat, house, tree, airplane, chair, three)

Point out the vowel teams in each word and have pupils circle them.

Say: Let’s complete the sentences.
•
Give pupils a few minutes to complete the sentences on their own or with a partner.

Reveal to check answers.

Weaker pupils should be encouraged to circle the vowel team in the words with a colored crayon.
Review the vowel sounds for each word.
