LEGENDARY Teacher's Guide - Book - Page 180
•
Say: Open your Course Books to page 131. Look at #3.
•
Review and practice new vocabulary by asking pupils to look at the picture of the
town and circle words they know.
•
▪
Elicit as many words as the pupils can remember from the picture, including
but not only the words that were taught in task #1. Point to or circle the
items on the board as the pupils say them.
▪
Words that can be elicited include (but are not limited to): street, house,
school, food (fruit) store, clothes store, vet, hospital, (pizza) restaurant,
library, park, bus, woman, dog, tree, etc.
Ask questions to elicit the words: What do you see?
▪
•
Ask: Where is the (restaurant)? (Elicit sentences using the prepositions "on, in, next to, near"
e.g.: The restaurant is next to the clothes store. / The library is near the park.)
Ask: Does this look like your city/town? Why or why not? (Elicit any logical response.)
▪
Do you have any of these places in your city/town? (If yes, elicit which.)
▪
Teach the new vocabulary word “place” through the context of the question (use L1 if needed to
explain the meaning).
NOTE
•
The teacher can choose to do the activity as a group competition. In small groups, pupils can write as
many words as they know from the picture (pupils should choose a group leader or "secretary"). The
group with the most correct words after a set time wins the competition.
