The Story: Anne in the Mirror
Course Book – Pre Reading

Say: Open your Course Books to page 118.

Read the title of the story together with the pupils: Anne in
the Mirror
•
Say: Look at the pictures from the story. What do you see?
(Elicit some vocabulary from the images on the page, for
example: closet, mirror, sleep, shirt, socks, etc.)

Point to Anne's colorful shirt and ask pupils if they
recognize it. Remind them that they read about Anne's
favorite shirt in a previous lesson.
Before reading the story, say: Let’s listen and number the pictures.
1 It's time to wake up!
2 What do I want to wear?
3 There is milk on my sweater.
4 I need two of the same socks.
5 Now I’m ready! Let's go!

Ask: What do you think will happen in the story?

Work together with the pupils to make predictions about the events of the story and the order
they will happen in. Use the images to help you.

Say: Open your Legendary Stories & More book to the story on page 41.

Show the book cover of the story Anne in the Mirror.

Ask a volunteer to read the title of the story: Anne in the Mirror
•
Point and ask: What do you see? (Elicit: I see Anne looking in a mirror.)

What is Anne wearing? (Elicit: She is wearing a pink dress.)

Point to Anne and ask: How do you think she feels? (Elicit: She feels
surprised.)

Ask (use L1 if needed): Does Anne's face look surprised in the mirror? (Elicit: no)

Ask (use L1 if needed): What is strange about Anne and Anne-in-the-mirror? (Elicit (in L1 if
needed) that mirrors normally reflect exactly what you see, or another logical answer.)
