Practice the Magic E rule with long O words. Show the flashcards and words: home, close, nose,
more, store. Ask:

What vowel is in the middle of each word? (Elicit: the letter O) Write the letter O in a different
color.
▪
What happens when we have Magic E at the end of the words? (Elicit (in L1 if needed): The
vowel says its name.) Write the letter E in another color at the end of the word.

Read the words together with the pupils.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 102. Look at #1.

Elicit the words and determine together if the word has a long or short sound.

Say: Look at the pictures and say the words. Let’s circle the words with the
long /O/ sound.
