LEGENDARY Teacher's Guide - Book - Page 138
Game
•
Say: Let's play a game.
•
Play the game to practice the numbers 1-100.
•
Tic Tac Toe (game #12)
▪
In a grid of 3x3, write any numbers 1-100.
▪
Divide the class into two groups. Each group is assigned either an X or an O.
▪
Have each group chose a representative who comes to the front of the room. The representative
should be a different pupil each time the group takes a turn.
▪
Have one group representative point to and say a number.
▪
If the answer is correct, mark X or an O in its place, if the answer is incorrect, move on to the
other team.
▪
The first team that receives 3 marks that form a row (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) is the
winner.
▪
Use different numbers to play a second time.
Lexical Chunks
New
•
Teach the new lexical chunks using previously taught vocabulary: How much is…?
▪
•
Show 'coat' flashcard on the board and ask: How much is the coat? It is sixty dollars. (Write $60
next to the coat.)
Show ‘sweater, scarf, bag' flashcards. Write a price next to each item. Ask: How much is the…? (Elicit
the price you wrote.)
Course Book
•
Say: Open your Course Books to page 98. Look at #1.
•
Ask: What do you see? (Elicit and point to the pictures: a hat, a shirt, a dress, a
skirt, a sweater, a jacket, and a scarf.)
•
Read the dialogue together with the pupils:
How much is the blue shirt?
•
It is twenty-five dollars.
Say: Talk to a friend. Look at the clothing shop and say how much each clothing
item is.
▪
In pairs, have the pupils say the dialogue to each other, asking about the prices of the different
clothes in the clothing shop. Then, pupils should switch roles and repeat the dialogue.
