Have pupils point to each word in their Course Books and say the words. Add the review words
“five, nine, white” after reading the new vocabulary.

Say: Let's write the Magic E.

Have pupils write the Magic E to complete the words and then read the
sentences together with the pupils: What time is it? It is nine o’clock.

Ask: What words did you make? (Elicit: time, nine)
▪
Which letter is the vowel in these words? (Elicit: the letter I)
▪
What sound does the letter I make? (Elicit: /I/)

Say: Complete the time on the phone according to the sentence.

Say: Look at #2.

Say: Look at the pictures and say the words with long /I/ sounds. Unscramble the letters to write
the word under the picture.

Teach the new vocabulary word “with” through the context of the instruction (use L1 if needed to
explain the meaning).

Do the #1 with the pupils. Point and ask: What do you see? (Elicit: write).

Remind pupils that the words all have the Magic E at the end of the word. Review with pupils
how to sound out the words. Trace the letters to complete the word.
