Quickly flash a card to the pupils, and then turn it back around.

Ask: What is it? Have the pupils guess what they saw: (Elicit: It's ___ .)

If the pupils guess correctly, turn the card around to show the picture. If the pupils do not guess
correctly, flash the card and have pupils guess again.
▪
Repeat with all the cards.
Course Book

Say: Open your Course Books to page 90. Look at #1.
•
Say: Scan the sentences to find the new words/lexical chunks and underline
them.
•

Give pupils some time to do this. Remind pupils that they can find the new
words/lexical chunks at the bottom of the page.
▪
Call on volunteers to say in which sentences they found the new words.
Say: Let's read the sentences and circle the correct picture.
▪
Ask volunteers to read each sentence. Decide together as a class which picture is correct based
on the sentence.

Say: Open your Course Books to page 91. Look at #2.
•
Ask: Do you remember who this is? (Elicit: This is Anne.)

Point and say: Look at the first picture (on the left). What do you see?
(Elicit: I see Anne and socks.)
▪
What is Anne wearing? (Elicit: Anne is wearing a sweater and black pants.)
▪
Do you think it is cold or warm? Why?
▪
Teach the new vocabulary words “think” and "or" through the context
question (use L1 if needed to explain the meaning).
▪
Point and say: Look at the second picture. What do you see? (Elicit: I see Anne, a hat, and a
jacket.)
▪
What is Anne wearing? (Elicit: Anne is wearing an orange dress and yellow shoes.)
▪
Do you think it is cold or warm? Why?
Say: Let's read and circle.

Read the photo captions together as a class. Have pupils point to follow along in their Course
Books. Point to the clothing items as they are read the text.
▪
After reading the first photo caption, repeat Anne's question: Do you see two socks of the same
color? (Elicit and have pupils circle: Yes, the yellow and red socks.)
▪
After the reading of the second photo caption, repeat Anne's question: What does Anne need to
take – a hat or a jacket? Why? (Elicit and have pupils circle: The hat, because it is sunny and
warm.)
