Greetings

Go around the room and ask different pupils:

What is your favorite food/color/number? (Elicit: My favorite…is…)
Song

Sing “Days of the Week” (song #1.34).
•
Ask: What day is it today? (Elicit: Today is (Sunday).)

What day was yesterday? (Elicit: Yesterday was (Saturday).)
▪
What day will tomorrow be? (Elicit: Tomorrow will be (Monday).)
▪
What is your favorite day of the week? (Elicit responses from different pupils.)
Vocabulary
New
•
Teach the new vocabulary in the Course Book using the flashcards.
•
Present each card one at a time and say the words: boots, coat, dress, pants, shirt, shoes, skirt,
sock/s, sweater.
•
Ask (use L1 if needed): Look at the words. What do these words have in common? (Elicit a logical
response in L1 if needed, then repeat in English: They are all clothes/things you wear.)

Present the card ‘clothes’ and say the word: clothes
▪
Tell pupils that they are beginning the second unit of the year, which is on the topic of clothes.
Say: Open your Course Books to page 78. Look at new words.

Say: Let's read and say the words.
▪
Have pupils point to each word in their Course Books and say the words.
Show the flashcards and ask: What color is the (shirt)? (Elicit: The shirt is blue.)

Repeat for each item of clothing to practice the vocabulary and review the colors.
Say: Stand up if you have (a red shirt).
