Say: Open your Course Books to page 70.

Have pupils complete the tasks on pages 70 – 73.
Review the instructions for each task before allowing pupils to
work on their own or with a partner.

#1: Say the words and circle if you hear /ch/, /sh/, or /th/
in the word.
▪
#2: Trace the days of the week and write the missing days.
Answer the questions using the word box.
▪
#3: Color the numerals according to the color of the
written numbers.
▪
#4: Write the words from the word box in the correct
column.
▪
#5: Read the text. Find and circle all the words with the
sound /ch/ in green, /sh/ in blue, and /th/ in yellow. Write
how many of each word you find in the boxes.
▪
#6: Answer yes or no according to the text in #5.

Performance Task
•
Say: Open your Stories & More book to page 28.
•
Have pupils follow the instructions on the page to complete the performance task. Have pupils assess
their work by completing the performance task checklist on page 287 of the Course Book.

For task #3, divide the class into small groups and allow them to work collaboratively.
•
The pupil’s work may then be displayed in an English corner in the classroom. Draw pupil’s attention
to the board once it is complete and be sure to praise pupils for their work.

This task can serve as an opportunity for interdisciplinary work, to be done in cooperation with the
health/sports/science teacher in the school.
Use the Performance Task Rubric in Appendix Vb to assess the pupil’s work.
