SESSION 13 – Second Reading of the Story: The Wheels on the Bus

Use Max the Puppet to greet the pupils and say: Hello. Good morning.
Go around the room with Max and ask the pupils: Are you a boy or a girl?

Sing “Good Morning, Dear Pupils” (song #1.3).

Sing “Where is Father?” (song #1.8) to review the family members.
Game

Do gestures to illustrate each verse of the story The Wheels on the Bus and have
pupils copy you:
o wheels (make circular motions with your arms)
o wipers (move your arms side to side)
o horn (mime pressing the horn on a steering wheel)
o driver (put out your hand to ask for tickets)
o parents (shushing gesture), babies (crying)
o people (bounce up and down)
o children (wave arms excitedly in the air)
Play Mime Game (game #11) to review the words from the story.

Play the animated story The Wheels on the Bus and sing the song (song #1.10). Pause
on each page to ask questions about the plot and characters to check understanding.
Do the gestures for each verse of the song and have pupils copy you.
For each verse, ask about each object or ask pupils to predict/remember the noise
the object makes in the song. For example, ask: What is this? (Elicit: horn/beep
beep)
