Teach and chant “A House with a Door” (song #1.26)

Have pupils copy the movements. Do gestures for roof (fingertips together), door
(opening a door), windows (hands apart and together, like opening a window), and 1,
2, 3, 4 (count on your fingers) and have pupils follow along.

Say: Open your books to page 52.
•
Ask: How many houses do you see? (Elicit: 2)
•
Say: Listen and color house #1.
Color the roof red.
Color the door orange.
Color the house yellow.
Color the windows blue.

Reveal to check answers.
•
Say: Color house #2 any way you choose. Color the roof, door, house, and windows
different colors.
•
Ask different pupils: What color is your (door)? (Elicit: My door is (red).)
Repeat the question for roof, house, and windows.
NOTE
Have pupils mark the pictures in the correct color as they listen to the
instructions. Then, pupils can finish coloring on their own.

Say: Open your books to page 53.
•
Ask: What do you see? (Elicit: I see a house.)
•
Say: Point to the roof/door/windows.
•
Ask: What color is the house/roof/door? How many windows do
you see?
•
Say: Listen and put the stickers from sticker page 2 in the correct place.
•
Put Baby in window number three.
Put Father in window number two.
Put Mother in window number four.
Put Brother and Sister in window number one.
Reveal to check answers.
