Show flashcards and say: I am a (girl). I am not a (boy).
Ask: Are you a boy or a girl?
Have the pupils respond: I am a (girl). I am not a (boy).
Repeat by asking several pupils.
Teach the new lexical chunk: He is a boy. She is a girl.
Point and say: He is a boy. She is a girl.
Have pupils point to pupils in the class and repeat: He is a boy. / She is a girl.

Say: Open your books to page 51.

Ask: What do you see? (Elicit: I see a boy and a girl.)
•
Have pupils point to each child and say together with the pupils: She
is a girl. He is a boy.
•
Ask: Are you a boy or a girl? (Elicit: I am a boy/girl.)
•
Say: Put a check () in the correct box for you. Put an X in the other box.
•
Point to the child with the check and say: I am a (girl).
Point to the child with an X and say: I am not a (boy).
Have the pupils repeat and point to the boy or girl in the Course Book.

Say: Color only the picture of the child with the check (). Write your name under
the picture.
•
While pupils are coloring, go around and ask pupils: Are you a (boy/girl)?
Have pupils respond: Yes, I am a (boy/girl). / No, I am not a (boy/girl).

Review the vocabulary using the flashcards: family, father, mother, brother, sister,
baby.
Ask: Who remembers? (Elicit the words.)
Have pupils repeat the words.
