The Story: Grib and His Frog Family
Performance Task
•
Say: Open your books to page 19.
•
Ask: What do you see? (Elicit: I see The Frog Family – Baby
Frog/Grib, Father Frog, Mother Frog, Sister Frog, Brother Frog.)
•
Say: Listen and color the pictures.
•
Color Father Frog orange.
Color Mother Frog red.
Color Brother Frog blue.
Color Sister Frog yellow.
Color Baby Frog green.
Say:
Cut out the pictures on the dotted lines only. Do not cut on the red lines.
Make the finger puppets by gluing the strip to make a ring.

Give the pupils some time to make the puppets.
•
While the pupils are working, walk around, point to the characters and ask:

Who is this? (Elicit: This is Father Frog.)
What color is (Father Frog)? (Elicit: (Father Frog) is (orange).)
After the lesson, have pupils save their puppets in the envelope in the back of the
book to use again.
NOTE
Have pupils mark the pictures in the correct color as they listen to the
instructions. Then, pupils can finish coloring on their own.
Alternatively, pupils can glue the pictures onto sticks to create stick puppets.
Use the Performance Task Rubric in Appendix V b to assess the pupil’s work.
