10. Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down
•
Show the flashcards.
•
Point to a flashcard and say: Is this a (chair)?
•
If what you say is right, pupils put their thumbs up and say: Yes, it is a (chair).
•
If what you say is wrong, pupils put their thumbs down and say: No, it is not a
(chair).
•
Repeat for all the words.
11. BINGO
•
Have pupils choose any 9 stickers from the sticker page and stick them onto the
BINGO board in any order they choose.
•
Hand out small pieces of paper or BINGO chips for pupils to use during the game.
•
Randomly select a word. Show the flashcard and say: Look for _____ .
•
Place the flashcard on the board.
•
If pupils have the picture on their board, they cover it with a BINGO chip.
•
Repeat by selecting another word.
•
When a pupil gets three in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) the pupil
must raise their hand and call: BINGO!
•
Have the pupils tell you which three pictures were covered and check them against
the pictures on the board.
•
Have pupils clear their boards of chips.
•
Shuffle the cards to reset the game and play again.
•
You may choose to have the winning pupil run the next round and call out the
words.
12. Memory Game
•
Say: Cut out the pictures. Play the memory game with a partner. Each partner must
bring their cards. When you turn over the cards, you must say the word.
•
Give pupils time to cut the pictures and play the game together:
•
Pupils should mix up two sets of cards (one set from each partner).
One pupil turns over a card, looks at the picture, and says what it is.
Then the pupil turns over another card, looking for a matching card.
If the pupil finds a pair, they say what they have. They may keep the pair.
The pupil then takes another turn and continues until they do not find a match.
If this happens, the pupil turns the cards back over, and the next pupil takes a
turn.
The pupil with the most pairs at the end wins.
Have pupils save the cards in the envelope in the back of the book to use again.
